encryption

by Hideo Nakamura

Encryption is a method of protecting data by making it unreadable to everyone except the intended recipient. This technique has become increasingly important in modern technology, particularly with cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. In this article, we will discuss what encryption is and how it works for cryptocurrency transactions.

Encryption involves using algorithms (cipher) to perform mathematical operations on plain text or other forms of data so that only those who have access to specific keys can decode the information back into its original form. It scrambles the message into an unrecognizable format called “cyphertext” which cannot be deciphered without knowing certain cryptographic parameters like cipher key and algorithm used in encryption process.

Cryptocurrency transactions are encrypted through public-key cryptography, also known as asymmetric cryptography because two different types of keys—public and private—are used together during the encryption process. A user’s public key serves as their address when sending or receiving digital currency; anyone can use your public key to send you funds but they won’t be able to decrypt your transaction unless they possess your private key too (which should remain secret). The combination of both these keys makes sure that no one else can view any sensitive details related to a cryptocurrency transaction while still allowing people participating in them access needed information about each other’s wallets balance sheet etc., thus providing security against cyber frauds & thefts .

In addition, most blockchain networks also employ additional layers of protection including hashing functions – where data is converted from readable state into irreversible fixed length strings -& signing techniques –where users digitally sign off on all transactions before broadcasting them across network nodes/miners for verifications–to ensure secure fund transfers over internet within limited timeframes & cost constraints . Thus , resulting high level security measures make crypto money transfer much safer than traditional banking systems with reduced chances of fraudulent activities being carried out online .
