National Security Council (NSC)
The National Security Council is an executive branch agency of the United States Government. The NSC was established in 1947 by President Harry S. Truman and is responsible for coordinating foreign, defense, and security policy among various government agencies. The National Security Advisor is the head of the NSC and serves as a principal advisor to the President on all matters related to national security and foreign policy.
The NSC works with other federal departments such as Department of Defense, State Department, Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and others to ensure proper coordination between them in regards to national security issues. It provides advice on how best to protect US citizens from threats both domestically and internationally while simultaneously maintaining economic prosperity at home. Additionally, it seeks ways that US interests can be advanced abroad through strategic partnerships or interventions when necessary.
In recent years, the focus has been shifted towards cryptocurrency-related threats including cyber-attacks on exchanges or wallets holding digital assets; money laundering activities involving cryptocurrencies; potential sanctions violations using cryptocurrencies; terrorist financing using digital currencies; support for rogue states via crypto transactions etc.. In response to these new emerging risks, several actions have been taken by both U.S authorities like FinCEN as well as international organizations like FATF which aim at combating illicit uses of virtual currencies while also introducing measures such as AML/KYC compliance requirements for exchangers operating within their jurisdiction in order to maintain adequate levels of safeguard against any potential malicious actors exploiting their financial systems via cryptocurrencies .
