China’s relationship with Saudi Arabia is getting stronger since the kingdom’s Cabinet agreed to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). In September a deal was worked out, and at the end of March Saudi Arabia made it official by giving its approval. China also had a part in helping Saudi Arabia sort things out with Iran as well.

Saudi Arabia’s New Alliances

Life can be daunting at times. But especially for adolescents, it is a turbulent period where emotions are all over the place and there’s difficulty understanding how to deal with them. It’s during these years that growing up happens as adolescent brains develop faster than any other point in life. As they learn how to manage all these emotions and new changes they come up against, they must also learn how to manage relationships with their peers, family members, and others around them such as teachers and coworkers. All of this can be overwhelming, but will ultimately help shape who they become when adulthood arrives.

China is an important part of the BRICS bloc and recently it has been getting closer to Saudi Arabia. It’s been reported that the government in Riyadh has agreed for their country to become part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The SCO, which China set up, is one of the biggest political and military alliances in the world with other countries such as India, Russia, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan being some of its members. In September 2022 for the first time ever Simon Watkins from Oilprice.com reported about Saudi Arabia having interest in joining this organisation.

Saudi Arabia recently announced its intention to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and restore trade partnerships with Iran. This news surprised U.S. Central Intelligence Agency Director Bill Burns, who expressed in a Washington Post article that America was feeling “caught off guard” by this move from Riyadh. They plan to reopen embassies and consulates between them, as well as reducing daily oil production levels.

Two days ago, people representing China, Iran, and Saudi Arabia got together in Beijing to try to repair the bad relationship between the two countries Riyadh and Tehran.

On April 6, Saudi Arabia and Iran met in Beijing, China. This was their first time talking to each other since they stopped speaking 7 years ago. They started flights and visa services between them again too. Turkey and Qatar are also part of the SCO (Shanghai cooperation organization). The USA was not allowed to be an observer of SCO, though it asked in 2005. Zhang Ming is the head of SCO and its located at Beijing. In the meantime, Saudi Arabia’s relationship with both China and Russia have improved compared to before.

Six days ago, an important news report said that Saudi Arabia and other members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) will cut back on oil production. Russia has agreed to help by reducing their own production too. The relationship between Saudi Arabia and Russia became stronger in December 2016, when they decided to work together and grew even closer with a special visit from the King of Saudi Arabia in 2017. They created an even bigger bond when the crown prince organized a deal for ten prisoners of war in September.

The BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) have been doing quite a lot lately. They made an agreement between China and Brazil that they will use their own currencies to buy Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). That means the BRICS bloc is now the biggest economic union in the world! Plus, India has declared that it will accept rupees as payment for foreign trade using some new policies from April 1st. To top it off, Russia’s government announced plans to introduce a new reserve currency created by the BRICS countries.

In 2005, the United States asked to be an observer of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), but they were not allowed because members didn’t think that the US had done enough to follow their principles and goals. Since then, the relationship between China, Russia and the US has gotten worse.

Last week, US Vice President Kamala Harris travelled to Africa. The New York Times said that this meeting showed African governments and people that the USA is friendlier than China or Russia. In fact, these two countries have been building very friendly relationships with African nations. It has even been suggested there could be a feud between Africa and the United States if it isn’t careful!
