Death Row Records was a record label founded in 1991 by Suge Knight, Dr. Dre and The D.O.C., with financial backing from Marion “Suge” Knight Jr. After the success of their first single, Deep Cover (featuring Snoop Doggy Dogg), Death Row quickly became one of the most influential hip-hop labels during its heyday.
The label’s initial roster included acts such as Dr Dre, Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg , Tha Dogg Pound and Lady of Rage . Later on they signed artists such as Kurupt , Nate Dogg and Crooked I to bolster their lineup even further . Despite these successes however , the company faced numerous legal troubles related to violence which ultimately led to its demise .
In 1996 Death Row records filed for bankruptcy after failing to pay back loans that had been taken out against it by some shareholders ; this essentially put an end to any future releases or signings under the name “death row” . In 2006 Suge knight sold off majority ownership rights in order to keep what remained of death rows assets intact but since then has not seen much activity until recently when rapper Makaveli resurrected it for his own independent projects like Street Fame 2 & Prince Of The West Coast 3: Reloaded amongst others – thus giving birth again too death row records incorporated (DRRINC) – A new entity established solely for entertainment purposes only!
Today DRRINC serves mainly as a reminder of nostalgia reminiscenting times past all while paying homage towards those who made history within Hip Hop culture through music & lifestyle; It is also important note that although there are several companies claiming similar names none can be considered ‘true successors’ due lack proper authorization/ownership rights given by original founder(s).
