What is CBI?
CBI, or the Central Bank of Iran (Persian: بانک مرکزی ايران), is one of the oldest and most powerful institutions in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Established in 1960 as a part of the Iranian banking system, it was founded to manage monetary policy and regulate financial activities within Iran. Its primary goal has been to maintain stability in prices through controlling inflation, while also providing adequate liquidity for economic growth. Additionally, CBI plays an important role in developing long-term strategies related to currency exchange rates with other countries and increasing foreign investment into Iranian markets. In recent years, CBI has introduced new regulations regarding cryptocurrency trading – making it easier for citizens to buy digital currencies like Bitcoin legally from licensed exchanges inside Iran’s borders.
