Microsoft, a big company that makes software, has created a wallet in their Edge web browser which allows people to own and trade Ethereum. This new feature is called the “Crypto Wallet” and acts like a copy of Metamask. The wallet lets people store Ethereum without anyone else in charge of it.
Microsoft Unveils Crypto Wallet
Microsoft is building a new feature called “Crypto Wallet” that will be part of Edge, their web browser. This wallet will allow users to store and transact Ethereum and tokens based on Ethereum without needing someone else to hold it for them.
Microsoft has provided some screenshots to confirm that the wallet is still in its testing stages and cannot be used by the general public. They have also warned testers about the risk of using their own funds as Microsoft will not reimburse them if they lose it. The project must also stay confidential and no details should be shared with anyone outside of the project.
New Ethereum Wallet Pre-Installed on Microsoft Edge
Edge is releasing a new wallet to compete with Metamask. It’s special feature is that it comes pre-installed and ready to use without having to download an addon.
Bleeping Computer tested a special wallet, and they said that it lets you have multiple Ethereum accounts. That means you can choose which one to use for different web apps. It also has a built-in exchange for ETH, DAI, UNI, USDC, and USDT.
The software we’re using has signs of a Bitcoin wallet, but it’s not available yet. Microsoft didn’t tell us anything about this wallet so we asked them for more information. They said: “We are constantly testing new features to give our customers a better experience. Right now we don’t have anything else to share.”
Microsoft, who has been working hard to support web related projects, have created standards for something called the metaverse and added new features to its Teams app. They recently laid off some people which affects these projects.
