Hidden File
A hidden file is a computer file that has been made invisible to the user. Hidden files are typically used for storing sensitive or private data, though they can also be used to hide malicious software from detection by antivirus programs.
Most operating systems provide ways of accessing and viewing hidden files. For example, on Windows computers a user can access the folder containing hidden files by typing “View” in Explorer or File Explorer and then pressing Alt+V followed by H. On Mac OS X computers users can view these folders using Finder and selecting Go > Go to Folder… then entering “~/Library/Application Support/.” Furthermore, Linux distributions such as Ubuntu allow users to view their own user directory’s contents with “ls -a” command in most shell environments (e.g., bash).
Cryptocurrency wallets often make use of hidden files for security purposes; these types of wallets usually create multiple key-value pairs stored within a single file so that they remain secure even if one key is compromised. Additionally, some cryptocurrency applications may store wallet information in an encrypted form within a hidden file so that it cannot be accessed without the correct password or encryption keys. It is important when dealing with cryptocurrencies to take appropriate measures to ensure your wallet data remains safe; this includes regularly backing up any associated wallet information into separate, secure locations away from your computer system(s).
