What is a Wallet Address?
A wallet address, also known as a public key, is a unique alphanumeric string that identifies an individual user’s cryptocurrency wallet. It works like the mailing address of an email account – when someone sends you cryptocurrency, they must use your wallet address in order to locate and send funds to your digital wallet.
Wallet addresses typically consist of between 26 and 35 characters (letters or numbers) and can be shared publicly with other users so they can make payments into your wallet. Addresses are not case-sensitive but should always include both lowercase and uppercase characters for accuracy purposes.
It’s important to note that every time you receive funds from another user’s cryptocurrency wallet, you will be assigned a new receiving address within your own digital currency storage system. This means that if you want other people to send money directly into the same place in your portfolio over multiple occasions, it is essential for them to use the exact same address each time; otherwise their payment may go unreceived or lost in cyberspace forever!
