Vitalik Buterin is a Canadian-Russian programmer and writer best known for his work as co-founder of the Ethereum project. He was born in 1994 in Kolomna, Russia before moving to Canada with his family at the age of six. After dropping out of college, he became heavily involved in cryptocurrency projects such as Bitcoin Magazine, where he served as Editor-in-Chief from 2011 to 2014.
Buterin’s most notable contribution has been the development of Ethereum – an open source platform that enables developers to build and deploy decentralized applications (DApps). In 2013, he proposed Ethereum as a more general version of Bitcoin which would support smart contracts and facilitate secure online transactions between users without any third party involvement. The main idea behind it was to create a platform that could be used by developers around the world to build their own distributed software systems on top of it.
Ethereum’s launch date was July 30th 2015 and since then Vitalik Buterin has become one of the most influential figures in blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.
