What is a Token Generation Event (TGE)?
A Token Generation Event (TGE) is a fundraising process in which new blockchain-based digital tokens are generated and sold to investors in exchange for established cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin or Ether. These newly created tokens can be used within the network of the project at hand, providing access to services, rewards, or other features. They may also be tradable on secondary markets once listed on exchanges. TGEs provide an alternative way for companies and projects to raise capital compared with traditional methods like venture capital investments or Initial Public Offerings (IPOs). By utilizing distributed ledger technology through TGEs, projects are able to decentralize their ownership structure by allowing anyone anywhere in the world with internet access to contribute funds towards the development of their product.
