Steve Wozniak is an American inventor, electronics engineer, programmer, philanthropist and technology entrepreneur. He is best known as the co-founder of Apple Inc., alongside Steve Jobs. Wozniak single-handedly designed the Apple I and Apple II computers in the late 1970s.
In 2018, Wozniak announced his involvement in cryptocurrency when he joined EQUI Global as a co-founder and investor. Since then, he has been actively involved in various projects related to blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC).
Wozniak also launched a venture capital fund called Efforce with Jacopo Visetti that will invest in startups that are developing products or services utilizing blockchain technologies. The project was inspired by Ethereum’s smart contract platform which allows users to create digital tokens that represent anything from stock certificates to gold bars — essentially allowing for fractional ownership of assets on the blockchain without third party brokers or fees associated with middlemen institutions like banks or governments.
In 2019, Wozniak became Chief Scientist at Efforce where he focuses on researching new applications for distributed ledger technologies including decentralised finance (DeFi) protocols; tokenisation of physical assets; non-fungible tokens (NFTs); digital identity solutions; artificial intelligence (AI); gamification; Internet of Things (IoT) networks and other innovative use cases for decentralized systems.
He has been vocal about his support for Bitcoin due to its decentralization properties which make it resistant against censorship compared to traditional banking systems controlled by central authorities like governments and large corporations who can freeze accounts or censor transactions they deem illegal or illegitimate according to their own ruleset. Furthermore, he believes BTC could be used as part of an alternative global economy system that’s more equitable than existing financial structures dominated by powerful entities who often abuse their position at the expense of everyday people around the world trying to build wealth through hard work alone – something only possible if everyone had access to equal opportunities regardless of race/ethnicity/gender/geographic location etc..
