Rob McEwen is a Canadian businessman and mining entrepreneur who has been involved in the exploration, development and operation of gold mines for over 35 years. He was CEO of Goldcorp Inc., a large international gold mining company based in Vancouver, from 1993 to 2009. During his time at GoldCorp, he transformed the company into one of the world’s largest gold miners through acquisitions and exploration success.
McEwen has also been heavily involved with cryptocurrency since 2013 when he founded Primerica Capital Corp., an investment firm that focuses on blockchain technology investments such as Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Ripple and Litecoin. In 2017 he partnered with Blockstream to launch a new venture called Blockstream Mining which provides cloud-based bitcoin mining services for customers around the world.
In recent years Rob McEwen has become an advocate for investing in cryptocurrencies due to their potential growth opportunities in comparison to traditional stocks or commodities like gold or silver. He believes that cryptocurrency may be able to provide more reliable returns than other asset classes due to its decentralized nature and lack of middlemen taking fees away from investors’ profits. Additionally, McEwan is passionate about promoting blockchain technology as a viable way of improving financial services infrastructure around the globe by reducing costs while increasing transparency and security within digital transactions between individuals or companies.
