What is Renewable Energy?

Renewable energy is energy generated from natural sources that are replenished naturally. These sources include sunlight, wind, geothermal heat and tidal power. Renewable energy does not deplete resources or emit pollutants into the atmosphere unlike traditional forms of energy such as fossil fuels. The use of renewable energy reduces reliance on finite resources and contributes to a more sustainable future for current and future generations.

What Types of Renewable Energy Sources Are There?

There are various types of renewable energy sources available for us to use today:

Solar Power – Solar power harnesses the sun’s rays and converts them into electricity to be used in homes, businesses, schools and factories. Photovoltaic (PV) cells capture solar radiation which is then converted directly into electricity using an inverter system while concentrated solar thermal systems collect heat from the sun’s rays which can then be used in hot water systems or steam turbines to generate electrical power.

Wind Power – Wind turbines convert kinetic movement created by air currents into mechanical power which when connected to an electric generator produces electricity that can be used in our homes, business or factories. It requires large amounts of open space but has become increasingly popular due to its low cost per kilowatt-hour compared with other forms of generation capacity like coal-fired plants .

Geothermal Power – Geothermal power makes use of naturally occurring heat below the earth’s surface in order to generate electricity through steam produced by drilling wells deep underground near areas where tectonic plates meet together creating high temperatures beneath the Earth’s surface.. This form of energy production doesn’t require any fuel source so it isn’t exposed nor does it contribute towards global warming/greenhouse gas emissions like other forms do making it one of most environment friendly options available today .

Hydro Power – Hydropower works by capturing kinetic force from moving water such as rivers or oceans with dams built across rivers that produce hydroelectricity when they block a river’s flow allowing gravity pull water down at higher speeds than usual generating enormous amount pressure that drives turbines responsible for converting this pressure into usable electric current .. Hydropower has been around since ancient times providing sustainable clean reliable source without producing any greenhouse gases adding up environmental benefits over long run .
