It typically involves manipulating prices and making public statements or announcements in order to affect perceptions, such as announcing an upcoming ICO (initial coin offering) prematurely. This can be done by individual traders and investors, as well as larger entities like exchanges and financial institutions.
Why Do People Posture?
People posture for a variety of reasons with varying degrees of success. These include attempting to manipulate markets, creating FOMO (fear-of-missing-out), gaining attention from potential customers or partners, intimidating competitors into not entering certain markets, increasing trustworthiness among existing customers or investors, and driving up their own profits through price manipulation. Ultimately these tactics are used because they can potentially generate short-term gains for those involved at the expense of others in the market who may not have access to the same information or resources available to them.
How Does it Affect Cryptocurrency Price Movements?
Although posturing does not directly cause price movements in cryptocurrencies due to its speculative nature rather than fundamental value based on intrinsic factors like supply/demand dynamics and adoption rates; it can still have an effect on prices indirectly by influencing investor sentiment around a particular asset or project which ultimately affects their willingness to invest in it either positively or negatively depending on how successful any given posturing campaign is perceived by potential buyers/sellers. This could mean that if someone successfully creates enough hype about a certain crypto asset then more people will be willing buy into it causing prices go up whereas conversely if there’s too much negative press surrounding something then people may become less likely invest resulting lower demand pushing down values accordingly over time
