Neal Stephenson (born October 31, 1959) is an American novelist and essayist known for his science fiction works. He is best known for writing the novel Snow Crash, which won the Arthur C. Clarke Award in 1993, and was later adapted into a series on Amazon Prime Video. Stephenson has also written non-fiction books such as In The Beginning…Was The Command Line and Cryptonomicon. His most recent book Fall; or Dodge In Hell was released in 2019.
Stephenson’s interest in cryptocurrency began after reading Satoshi Nakamoto’s white paper about Bitcoin in 2008, when he realized that it was a revolutionary technology with the potential to shape our future digital economy much like the Internet did previously. Since then he has been actively involved in exploring the implications of blockchain technology through his writings and public speaking engagements at various conferences around world discussing topics related to cryptocurrency and its applications in business and society more broadly.
In 2013, Stephenson wrote an article titled “The Coming Technological Singularity” where he argued that cryptocurrencies are part of what will create a new financial system replacing today’s fiat currency system because they offer advantages over traditional payment methods due to their decentralized nature which makes them resistant to manipulation by governments or banks while simultaneously providing more privacy than existing options like credit cards or PayPal accounts provide customers with accesses payments quickly without having go through third parties like banks or clearinghouses each time you want make purchase online .
