Ju Jiandong (Chinese: 巨建东; pinyin: Jù Jiàndōng) is a Chinese businessman and entrepreneur best known for his role in developing the blockchain technology that underlies many cryptocurrencies. He is also the founder of Bitmain Technologies, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency mining companies.
Ju was born in 1986 in Shenzhen, a city near Hong Kong considered to be China’s Silicon Valley. He received a bachelor’s degree from Tsinghua University and later earned both master’s and doctoral degrees from Peking University. His research focused on computer science engineering, specifically cryptography algorithms used to secure digital data transactions such as those related to blockchain technologies.
In 2013, Ju founded Bitmain Technologies with business partner Wu Jihan. The company quickly became one of the leading forces behind Bitcoin mining through its development of specialized ASIC chips designed for use in computers dedicated solely to mining cryptos like Bitcoin or Ethereum.
Bitmain has since become an industry leader with considerable influence over how cryptocurrencies are mined and traded throughout the world due to its dominant market share among miners as well as strong relationships with major exchanges like Huobi Global and OKEx. However, this position has drawn criticism from some who allege that Bitmain holds too much power over cryptocurrency markets by controlling their supply-side dynamics via its large network of miners powered by specialized chips produced by Ju’s company.
In addition to his work at Bitmain, Ju has invested heavily into other cryptocurrency projects such as Matrix AI Network (MAN), where he serves as Chairman of their International Advisory Board (IAB). Furthermore, he recently announced plans for a new venture capital fund dedicated exclusively towards investing in early-stage blockchain startups across Asia Pacific regions looking to leverage artificial intelligence technologies into their products or services offerings . This announcement came shortly after news broke out about his involvement in Y Combinator’s first ever ‘Startup School Blockchain Track’, which seeks to provide advice & guidance for aspiring entrepreneurs interested exploring opportunities within decentralized finance ecosystems – an area where Ju himself continues remain highly active today..
