Joseph Collement (born October 15th, 1975) is an American entrepreneur and investor specializing in the cryptocurrency industry. He has been active in the space since 2017, when he co-founded Crypto Capital Ventures with his partner Ben Ehrlich.
Collement’s career began as a software engineer for Boeing before joining Bank of America Merrill Lynch as a senior technical analyst. In 2013, he ventured into the world of venture capital by founding Blockchain Angels, one of the first angel investing networks focused on blockchain technology startups. Later that year, Collement joined Chainlink Labs as Chief Technical Officer and worked there until 2016 when he left to pursue new opportunities in the crypto sector.
Since then, Joseph Collement has become known for his expertise in decentralized finance (DeFi), having invested early on projects such as MakerDAO and Compound Finance which are now two of the leading DeFi protocols being used today. Additionally, he serves an advisor to many digital asset funds including Coinbase Ventures and Pantera Capital where he helps guide their investments into promising projects within this growing ecosystem.
In addition to his activities within crypto investing circles, Collement also founded The Bitcoin Education Project which aims to educate young people about Bitcoin and its underlying technologies while encouraging them to use it responsibly so they can benefit from its potentials benefits rather than fall victim to its volatility or other risks associated with trading cryptocurrencies without proper knowledge or guidance.
