Jeffrey Tucker is an American economist and crypto enthusiast who has been a major advocate of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency since 2012. He is currently the Chief Liberty Officer at the American Institute for Economic Education, a think tank devoted to free-market economic principles.
Tucker was initially skeptical of Bitcoin when it first launched in 2009, but he quickly came around to its potential as an alternative currency system, particularly given its decentralized nature and ability to protect users from government interference or manipulation. Since then, he has become one of the foremost voices in cryptocurrency advocacy, making numerous public appearances on behalf of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
In addition to his advocacy work, Tucker is also involved in various start-up ventures related to blockchain technology. In 2017 he founded the consulting firm CryptoMedia Group which provides strategic advice on blockchain applications for businesses; that same year he also co-founded Distributed Global – an investment fund focused on digital assets such as cryptocurrenices – with Barry Silbert’s Digital Currency Group (DCG). Most recently, Tucker was named CEO of Layer1 Technologies – a venture backed startup building crypto mining hardware infrastructure solutions -in May 2019.
