Jeffrey Gundlach is an American investor and the chief executive officer of DoubleLine Capital LP, a leading global investment management firm. He is widely regarded as one of the best minds in investing and has been dubbed “The Bond King” for his success in fixed income investments.
Gundlach is also well-known for his comments about Federal Reserve (Fed) policy. In particular, he has frequently criticized Fed policies such as quantitative easing and low interest rates, citing concerns that they are creating asset bubbles which could eventually burst. He believes that these policies will ultimately lead to inflationary pressures, resulting in currency devaluation or even hyperinflation.
In addition to voicing his opinions on Fed policy, Gundlach has made some successful predictions related to it over the years. For example, he accurately predicted in 2015 that the Fed would raise interest rates four times during 2016 – something which did indeed happen – and again predicted that three rate hikes were likely in 2017 despite widespread skepticism at the time regarding this possibility. He also correctly forecasted both Brexit’s approval by UK voters and Donald Trump’s election victory in 2016 before either event had occurred.
