Hong Kong Dollar (HKD)
The Hong Kong dollar is the official currency of Hong Kong. It has been issued by the government since 1935 and is one of the most heavily traded currencies in Asia. The ISO 4217 code for the Hong Kong dollar is HKD, while its symbol is $ or HK$.
In terms of exchange rate to other major currencies, 1 USD is equivalent to around 7.75 HKD as of August 2020. This means that if you have 100 US dollars, it can be exchanged for approximately 775 HKD at a bank or foreign currency exchange counter.
History and Denominations
The current version of the banknotes was introduced in 1985 in denominations ranging from 10 to 1000 dollars with an additional 20-dollar note added later on. In 2018, two new notes were released; a 50-dollar note and a 200-dollar note which are both printed with advanced security features such as holographic images and hidden numerals that can only be seen under ultraviolet light. Coins come in denominations ranging from 1 cent to 10 dollars with some coins containing Chinese characters instead of numbers on their reverse side as part of its design elements .
Exchange Rate Variability
Due to economic conditions like inflation, trade deficits and other external factors, there can be fluctuations in exchange rates between two countries’ respective currencies including those involving USD/HKD pairings. These changes could mean that buying power varies greatly depending on when transactions occur due to different rates being used during various periods throughout any given year thus making it important for investors interested in trading this particular currency pair aware about how much they may end up paying per unit before executing any trades .
