## Gary Marcus
Gary Marcus (born November 12, 1966) is an American cognitive scientist and author. He is a professor in the Department of Psychology at New York University, where he directs the NYU Center for Child Language. In addition to his academic work, Marcus has also written extensively about artificial intelligence and machine learning as well as their implications for society.
Marcus’ research focuses on how humans learn language and other skills from limited data sets, often using techniques derived from deep learning methods used in artificial intelligence. His writings have appeared frequently in popular media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, Wired Magazine and The New Yorker. He was named one of MIT Technology Review’s “Innovators Under 35” in 2002.
