Forbes Media chairman is Steve Forbes, an American media executive who has served as chairman and editor-in-chief of the iconic business magazine since 1990. He was previously president and CEO from 1985 to 1990.
Steve Forbes founded his own financial publishing company, Forbes Inc., in 1967 with a partner and held various positions within it until assuming its top position in 1990 after the death of his father B.C. Forbes, who had originally founded the company ninety years ago. Since then, he has been leading its growth into one of America’s most respected sources for information on investing, finance and business news worldwide. During this time he also published several books on economic topics including “The New York Times bestseller Flat Tax Revolution: Using a Postcard to Abolish the IRS”.
He is also chairperson or board member of numerous other companies such as True North Venture Partners LLC; Fidelity & Guaranty Life Insurance Company; SkyBridge Capital II LLC; Profitable Investing Magazine; Turnberry Solutions Inc.; SeedInvest Technology LLC ; Oxford Club Private Investment Network ; AFG Ventures Corp., among others. Outside of his professional career he gives lectures at universities about economics, entrepreneurship and innovation topics across the United States and abroad , serves as an advisor for startups in Silicon Valley , holds advisory roles at institutions like MIT Sloan School Of Management , The Heritage Foundation Center For Data Analysis Or The Hoover Institution .
In addition to that Steve Forbes was presidential candidate twice – firstly in 1996 when loosing Republican nomination against Bob Dole eventually becoming George W Bush’s running mate – later again unsuccessfully during 2000 US Presidential Elections where winning primary by 27% votes ended up not enough to win against John McCain .
