Fidelity Investments is an American multinational financial services corporation based in Boston, Massachusetts. It was founded as FMR Corporation in 1946 and has since grown to become one of the largest asset management companies in the world with more than $7 trillion assets under its management. In addition to traditional investments such as stocks and bonds, it also offers a wide range of cryptocurrency investment options including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and Ripple (XRP).
Fidelity began offering crypto trading services for institutional investors on their platform back in 2018 when they launched Fidelity Digital Assets – an independent company that provides custodial solutions for digital assets. At first only BTC & ETH were offered but recently XRP was added as well giving customers access to three major cryptocurrencies alongside other smaller ones like Litecoin (LTC) or Stellar Lumens (XLM).
The firm’s custody service allows institutions to store large amounts of cryptocurrency safely without having to worry about security issues associated with storing your own private keys.
