Dual-Token Economy/Model (Two-Token Economy)
A dual-token economy, also referred to as a two-token economy, is an economic framework that utilizes two different types of tokens to facilitate transactions within the ecosystem. These tokens may be used for a variety of purposes and can have multiple layers of complexity depending on how it is designed. Most commonly, dual-token economies are found in decentralized applications (DApps), where one token acts as the native currency and another serves as a utility token or governance token with specific functions related to the network’s activity. The purpose of this model is mainly to incentivize users by giving them access to exclusive benefits such as rewards for participating in activities within the platform or voting rights for certain decisions made by its governance system.
The most common type of dual-token economies involve both fungible and nonfungible tokens; however, other combinations could exist depending on the needs of the application or project associated with it. In addition, there are also cases where more than two tokens are involved in order to fulfill certain requirements within their respective ecosystems.
