What is DOGE?
DOGE (or Dogecoin) is a peer-to-peer digital currency and decentralized payment system based on the popular “doge” Internet meme. It was created by Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer in 2013 as an alternative to other cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Litecoin, or Ripple. Unlike many of its competitors, it has no hard limit on the number of coins that can be mined; instead it uses an inflationary model similar to fiat currencies like USD or EUR. The total circulation of dogecoins at any given time fluctuates but currently stands around 120 billion coins with a market capitalization exceeding $300 million dollars.
