Dfinity Foundation
The Dfinity Foundation is a Swiss non-profit organization focused on developing the world’s first decentralized cloud computing network. Founded in 2016 by Dominic Williams, it has grown to become one of the largest and most influential organizations in the blockchain industry. The foundation provides research and development for projects that range from distributed ledgers to scalability solutions, as well as education initiatives designed to promote awareness of blockchain technology around the world.
Its mission statement is “to create an open platform where anyone can access secure digital services without sacrificing privacy or trust”. This will be accomplished through its two primary products: Internet Computer (IC) and Cloud Identity Network (CIN). IC is a new type of public infrastructure which enables developers to build applications with guaranteed performance at scale while also allowing users complete control over their data; CIN allows individuals full control over their personal information, ensuring they maintain ownership even when using third party services such as ecommerce sites or web hosting companies.
In order to fund these ambitious goals, Dfinity has raised millions from venture capital firms including Andreessen Horowitz and Polychain Capital along with individual investments from high profile investors like Google Ventures founder Bill Maris and Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak who have both joined Dfinity’s board of advisors . Additionally ,the foundation plans to launch a token sale once its mainnet goes live later this year . As part of this effort ,it recently announced partnerships with several major players in the cryptocurrency space such Coinbase Custody & TokenSoft Inc., further strengthening its position within market .
