Democratic Senators
Democratic senators are members of the United States Senate who belong to the Democratic Party. The number of Democratic senators depends on which state they represent and how many senators each state is allocated, as laid out in Article I, Section III of the U.S. Constitution. As a result, there can be anywhere from one to two Democrats in any given state’s senate delegation depending on its population size and electoral laws at that time. Currently (as of April 2021), there are 50 Democratic U.S. Senators representing 26 states across America: Alabama (2); Arizona (1); Arkansas (1); California (2); Colorado(2); Connecticut(2) ; Delaware(1) ; Florida(3) ; Georgia ( 1 ); Hawaii( 2 ) ; Idaho( 1 ) Illinois; Indiana; Iowa; Kansas; Kentucky Maine Maryland Massachusetts Michigan Minnesota Mississippi Missouri Montana Nebraska Nevada New Hampshire New Jersey New Mexico North Carolina North Dakota Ohio Oklahoma Oregon Pennsylvania Rhode Island South Carolina Tennessee Texas Utah Vermont Virginia Washington West Virginia Wisconsin Wyoming .
Democrats also hold all five non-voting delegate seats for D.C.; Guam; American Samoa and Virgin Islands territories , giving them 55 total voting power when combined with their other 50 voting senatorial representatives .
In addition to serving as elected representatives for their respective states or territories , these individuals work together to shape national policy by proposing bills , debating issues important matters such as health care reform immigration taxes civil rights climate change trade agreements foreign affairs budgeting infrastructure defense spending education etc . They bring diverse perspectives voices opinions experiences backgrounds into play when deciding what legislation should become law – making sure everyone’s voice is heard equally no matter where they live or come from within our democracy system!
