Decree is a cryptocurrency platform designed to facilitate peer-to-peer payments on the blockchain. The Decree protocol enables users to securely and conveniently send money directly from one user’s wallet to another, without having to rely on an intermediary financial institution or service provider.
Developed by the Swiss company Decred AG in 2018, this open source project utilizes a hybrid consensus system that combines Proof of Work (PoW) with Proof of Stake (PoS), which provides increased security while also enabling greater decentralization than other cryptocurrencies that use only PoW or PoS. This makes it more resistant to 51% attacks and double spends as well as providing additional protection against malicious actors attempting to manipulate network functions for their own gain.
The primary purpose of Decree is digital asset transfer but its development team has also implemented advanced features such as smart contracts, atomic swaps, Lightning Network integration and decentralized governance models into its core functionalities making it suitable for wide range of applications including finance management systems, voting platforms and data storage services. Additionally, the platform offers improved scalability compared with many existing blockchains due its innovative layered architecture design approach called “stacked chains”.
