Crypto platforms are digital infrastructure that enable users to buy, sell, exchange and store digital assets such as cryptocurrencies. They often provide a range of services including asset management, trading tools and analytics in addition to offering custodial services for storing the user’s funds securely.
Types of Crypto Platforms
There are several types of crypto platforms available:
-Exchanges: Exchanges allow users to buy and sell cryptocurrency pairs directly with each other by matching buyers and sellers in their order books. These exchanges usually offer an extensive selection of coins/tokens but also come with certain risks due to the lack of regulation or oversight from government bodies . Examples include Coinbase Pro, Binance , Kraken etc.
-Brokerages: Brokerages facilitate trades between buyers/sellers by acting as an intermediary using different strategies such as market-making or providing liquidity solutions for traders who want access to larger amounts quickly without having to wait for orders on exchanges . Examples include eToro, Robinhood etc.
-Custodians : Custody providers offer secure storage facilities where clients can safely deposit their funds away from third parties like hackers or malicious actors while still being able access them whenever they need it . Examples include Anchorage Digital Bank , Gemini custody etc..
– Wallets : Wallets provide private keys which give you control over your own crypto holdings allowing you transfer tokens between accounts without relying on external intermediaries . This type includes both hot wallets (online )and cold wallets (offline) depending on how much security is needed when holding specific cryptos . Popular examples here would be Ledger Nano S & Trezor Model T wallet hardware devices , Exodus online wallet software application among others.
