What is Countereconomics?
Countereconomics is a term used to refer to the economic activities that are conducted outside of traditional markets and institutions. It involves habits, practices, attitudes, and principles which challenge conventional or mainstream economic thinking. This type of economics seeks to create alternatives for individuals who wish to be independent from the state-controlled economies as well as large corporations. It also encourages people to become self-sufficient by providing them with means of creating their own income without having to rely on government welfare programs or corporate employers. Examples of countereconomic activity include bartering networks, local currencies (such as Bitcoin), community gardens, food cooperatives, home schooling initiatives and so forth.
