Chunk (NEAR)
Chunk is a novel type of cryptocurrency token developed on the NEAR Protocol blockchain. The NEAR Protocol is an open-source, developer-friendly platform for building decentralized applications and digital assets. Chunk tokens are designed to be used as both a form of currency and a digital asset in order to promote cross-chain interoperability between different blockchains and platforms.
The Chunk token was launched on June 1, 2020 as part of the initial launch of the NEAR protocol mainnet. It has since been listed on several major cryptocurrency exchanges including Binance, Coinbase Pro, and Huobi Global. As of July 30th 2020, it has a market capitalization of over $250 million USD with each token trading at around $0.50 USD per coin.
Chunks are designed to provide users with access to services within the NEAR ecosystem while also serving as an incentive mechanism for developers who create applications or services that use the network’s infrastructure or technology stack. For example, small amounts of CHUNK can be earned by users who stake their tokens in validator nodes or run full nodes which help secure the network from malicious actors or attacks such as double spending attempts by other users attempting to defraud them out of their funds. Additionally by staking CHUNK in smart contracts developers gain access to more resources when running computations on the NEAR blockchain compared to those who do not stake any tokens at all. This helps ensure that projects built using this platform remain secure and reliable while giving its creators additional rewards for their hard work creating innovative dApps with real world value propositions that drive user adoption rates higher than ever before seen in previous generations blockchain protocols such as Ethereum or Bitcoin Cash networks respectively
