Changpeng Zhao is a Chinese-Canadian computer scientist and entrepreneur best known for his work in the cryptocurrency industry. He is the founder, CEO, and CTO of Binance, one of the world’s largest crypto exchanges.
Zhao was born in Jiangsu province on November 3rd 1978 to an entrepreneurial family with experience in finance and technology. After studying computer science at McGill University he went on to hold various roles at Bloomberg Tradebook (now part of Citigroup), Fusion Systems Ltd., Blockchain.info, OKCoin, as well as other blockchain companies before founding Binance in China 2017 and relocating it to Malta after regulatory issues arose with the Chinese government shortly thereafter.
