Atiku Abubakar is a prominent Nigerian politician, businessman and former Vice President of Nigeria. He was born in Jada village, Adamawa State on 25 November 1946 to Garba Abubakar and Ayesha Gadam. Atiku began his political career as a civil servant in the customs service before entering politics full-time in 1989 when he became Governor of Adamawa state. In 1998 he was elected Vice President under then president Olusegun Obasanjo’s government until 2007 when they lost re-election bid for 2nd term by Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s People Democratic Party (PDP).
In 2011 Atiku ran again for Presidential election but lost out to Goodluck Jonathan from PDP ticket despite having support from Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) party; while taking part in 2015 presidential elections he joined All Progressive Congress (APC) becoming its candidate however once again failed to win against Muhammadu Buhari who eventually became 15th president of Nigeria. Since leaving office as VP till present day Atiku remains active within APC leadership being vocal about issues such as corruption and security challenges facing the country today . In 2018 after losing out nomination race during primary election held by APC at Abuja stadium ,he decided to return back into spotlight running third time consecutively during 2019 general elections – this time with Peoples Democratic Party – where unfortunately yet again lost votes against incumbent Buhari who secured second term with majority vote casted .
Today even though no longer holding high ranking public offices or positions ,Atika continues advocating various causes including cryptocurrency world which gained attention globally due recent surge tech sector especially blockchain technology emerging new financial solutions replacing traditional methods used so far across many areas around globe ; thus creating brand awareness amongst younger generations whilst also raising funds required towards achieving their set goals .
