Mike Novogratz, who is the CEO of Galaxy Digital, spoke with CNBC Wednesday about what he thought the future held for the U.S. economy. He said that it felt like December 2018 when the Federal Reserve increased interest rates and this caused the market to take a big dip in value.

Novogratz then added that in just a few weeks’ time, information had changed drastically and could lead to different outcomes.

The market is sending a signal that things might not be going well. This means prices of goods – like oil – around the world could go up and it will be harder to borrow money. The head of the U.S. Federal Reserve is starting to think about lowering interest rates, which often affects people’s investment decisions. As a result, investments like Bitcoin and Ethereum are rising in value.

The executive said that this is a great time to invest in bitcoin and cryptocurrencies due to the governments printing too much money. He then answered a question about whether there would be an effect or “contagion” spread among the US banking system and globally by saying yes. He also noted that people could learn from their mistakes, so they should only rely on four or five trustworthy banks.

Mike Novogratz said that Congress and the Federal Reserve had to do something big or there will be a lot of problems with regional banks. He thinks that there is going to be something called a credit crunch, which means people won’t be able to borrow very much money. Banks can’t make enough money if they don’t loan any out, so this could cause an issue in the United States economy.
